For those of you on the trip that DIDN'T do the Grossglockner road across the Alps

This is what you missed.

Thanks to the satnav I was able to see the corners coming .

A few hours later we were in temps of 35deg c in Italy.

Looks like it was a fantastic trip!
I envy you guys. I think there's only about 3 birds in all of Canada, spread out over a billion square miles!! Get's a bit lonely at times!
Keep us posted on the plans for next year!

Yes - but we had seven on the same ride - not just a meet-up.

I thought we had a pretty nice mix of birds too... there wasn't any confusing anyone's bike with another.

riding into Tridays...

of course my open face and waxed cotton was sure to make me stick out regardless of the bike mods...

Dave Porter (Editor) has agreed to print a full write up of the Thunder to Bled tour in TOMCC monthly magazine Nacelle. I will be sending it off to the him for editing in the next few days and will let you know when it's in print. Will try and get a plug for this excellent forum.

Good lord... as if the initial fine wasn't enough. The ban... well, something tells me he wasn't planning on being back in Switzerland within 5 month (if ever) anyway....

On the bike purchases, congrats to all... but can Steve touch the ground on that R3 tourer? He wasn't the longest of leg....

Yes, clipped his wings and his affection for swiss cheese and chocolate no doubt.

As for Steve, maneuvering is like watching a scene of Swan Lake. Went on his maiden run as he was a bit nervous (3 x bigger than is bonnie america) but he handled it well and is smitten. He kept saying I'm shocked (in a good way) by the power of this thing. Good on him! Big Steve & Pam are equally smitten, they have this weekend in Scotland and next week at a rally to look forward too (I'm trying to make the rally).

Hope all is well with you big fella? If you and your good lady fancy a trip to the UK you have a place to stay here in rural Yorkshire.

Update on the Bled boys...

Steve (photographer) has bought aand since trashed his brand new (200 miles on the clock). He eacaped injury in the 60mph smash (Midge had a ringside seat) but the bike is no more. Shame it was nice. Trying to get him on a bird (it would fit him better).

Chris and big Steve (Steve and Pam) have each bought a T'bird chopping in there 1050 Tiger and America.

Nooooooo.... Holy crap Steve!
I just hope his inner confidence is still OK. Tell him I said he neeeeeeeds a 'Bird!

Chris has done it as well!? Excellent!

Ivan - do you have any feedback from Steve and Pam's tour up to Scotland on their 'Bird?
I'd be interested their findings? Or is there a thread I can read over at BA?

A link to Steve's pics of Scotland has been sent.

They know Scotland better than most (me included and I've been there many times over) and I am sure he would give you chapter and verse if you flicked him an email (just let me know if you need his contact details).

As for the other Steve, we must get him on a Bird!! Midge & I are thrying to convince him.

Yes, really pleased with it and so is the editor of the magazine. He is keen to do another article of the Bloc tour. That is longer both in miles and time and in this case MORE is MORE.

Note: The Nacelle mailing list is generated at the start of the month for the magazine that comes out at the end of the month, so if you join halfway through the month, you won't get your first copy of Nacelle until the end of the following month. This is also true for changes of address.

But you will be able to read it (and other back copies) on-line.

HOWEVER I am trying to get a few spare copies with your name on one of them if I can swing it. You are on the front cover afterall!!

Was pleasantly surprised to see the article when my magazine arrived yesterday, well done excellent work.

Makes me wish I had some time spare to join you on this years trip.

Look forward to reading about the Bloc trip later in the year.

DOH

Well there should be some extra copies left then. If you ever want to NOT shift a magazine, putting me on the cover has got to be one of the top 3 ways to do it.

You do share it with me and Colin so there might be a truck load spare In fact it is fair to say Colin isn't camera shy.
